Ponder Veterinary Hospital has offered a low-cost, high quality spay and neuter program since 1989. It is our belief that we owe our clients and their pets this opportunity to have this most necessary procedure performed in a safe manner at a price that everyone can afford.  This is our way of doing our part for the  pet over population problems faced in our practice area and all across the nation.  We have found over the years that this is also a way to build a practice with loyal clients who appreciate our efforts to help control pet overpopulation.

We believe that the best age to spay or neuter your pet is at 12 weeks of age.  We have been doing neonatal spay and neuters since 1989 and have done several thousand pets at this age. We find it has many advantages for our patients.  The recovery time is much shorter and the surgical incision is much smaller at this age.

We treat our low cost spay/neuter patients to the same quality surgical experience that we provide for all our surgeries.   All patients receive a thorough physical exam by the doctor with the owner present so a proper history can be obtained and any questions that the pet owner has can be addressed by the doctor.

Each pet owner is offered a tour of our surgical facilities so they can be reassured that their pet will receive the best in care before, during and after surgery.

All surgical patients are given presurgical pain medication to ensure that they are comfortable and pain free after they recover from surgery.  They will also go home with post surgical pain medication to be given for a few days after the surgery.

We have the necessary laboratory equipment to do pre-surgical lab work to help further assess the health of your pet prior to administering anesthesia. This is recommended but optional in most patients and available for a reasonable charge.

We also offer packages that include the surgery, vaccinations, heartworm test, first dose of flea control, heartworm preventative and deworming at a great savings to you when done at the time of surgery.
